Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are dental restorations also known as “caps” that are coverings that fit over a single tooth.  Dr. Goldstein often recommends a crown after a tooth has been root canal treated or compromised by decay and/or an extremely large restoration, or for cosmetic purposes.

Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth.  It extends across an area that has no teeth and is typically made up of an artificial tooth between two crowns.

Crowns and bridges are permanently cemented and cannot be removed.

Crowns and bridges are most commonly made from materials such as porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, gold or zirconia. You and Dr. Goldstein will discuss which type is best for you.

Dental implants are quickly growing in popularity as an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth. An implant is a titanium screw that is surgically inserted into the jawbone and left undisturbed while the bone heals around the screw.  Once the implant screw is firmly in place a crown, bridge or denture is attached to restore function. Book an appointment to see if you’re a candidate for implant therapy.

Full and Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable appliance that is used to replace multiple missing teeth. It can not only improve one’s appearance but quality of life.

There are 2 different types of dentures

  • Full Dentures, or complete dentures replace all the teeth in an entire arch. They are held in by means of suction, denture adhesive or implant attachment.

  • Partial Dentures are used to replace missing teeth using other existing teeth as anchorage. Metal clasps hold the partial denture in place.

Over time dentures will need the clasps tightened or to be relined due to natural changes in the oral cavity.

A regular visit to the dentist for an examination of the oral tissue is still important.

Veneers are used to cover chipped, discoloured and misaligned teeth. This process is done by placing a thin shell of porcelain designed to fit snugly over the front surface of your teeth and cemented in to place. A popular choice to achieve a dazzling smile.
